Obituary of Doug Edwards

Mr. Douglas Edwards, age 80, a resident of Polk City, Florida went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. Mr. Edwards was born July 29, 1942 in Birmingham, Alabama to Benjamin Franklin and Agnes Flavella (Barnes) Edwards. He was a resident of Polk City for over 28 years coming from Tennessee. He was a retired Fence Installer and a United States Army Veteran. Doug attended the Christian Heritage Church in Winter Haven and Faith Baptist Church in Polk City. He retired from Walker Fence of Auburndale after 15 years of service and worked as a Prison Guard for Polk City Corrections. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers & sister. Doug is survived by his loving family, son – Dallas Edwards and wife Kristian of Baytown, Texas; companion of 25 years – Sybil Williams of Polk City, Florida; daughter – Mandy Edwards of Alabama; 2 brothers – Don Edwards of Mississippi and Earl Edwards of Texas; stepson – Brandon Williams of Davenport, Florida; stepdaughter – Crystal Lindell and husband Scott of Auburndale, Florida; 5 grandchildren – Jackson, Meghan (Brad), Cameron, Delani & Taylor and 1 great grandson – McCoy. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Monday, January 30^th at Kersey Funeral Home with a gathering of family & friends beginning at 10am at the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors will follow 2:00 pm at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
