Obituary of Darrell Thomas Elliott

Mr. Darrell Elliott, age 68, a resident of Polk City, Florida passed away, unexpectedly, Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Lakeland Regional Health. Darrell was born September 24th, 1954 in Victor, New York. He graduated from Marathon Central School in 1972. Darrell continued on later to graduate from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Syracuse, NY in 1982 with honors and a degree in Respiratory Therapy. Darrell was involved in many sports in addition to being academically gifted. His favorite sports were soccer, wrestling and track and field. Darrell moved to Lakeland, Fl, in 1982. He became a compassionate and highly respected respiratory therapist who was dedicated to his work for 20 years at Winter Haven Hospital. During his career he saved many lives, taught many students and staff and his legacy will live on through them.

Darrell married Julie, the love of his life on September 6, 2003. Together they shared love for morning coffee, time at the beach, and cherished every precious moment they had together. Darrell took great pride in caring for their home and property, delivering Julie’s coffee anytime she needed it and sharing time with his German Shepherd, Bear. He loved making memories with his boys and grandchildren. There was never a day when he didn’t have a smile on his face that warmed our hearts along with a thumbs up. Darrell is predeceased by his parents Jim and Rita Elliott. He is survived by his wife Julie Andrews Elliott, 3 Sons- Shawn and Kyle (Joy) Elliott, Jordan (Katie) Bennett, 2 Daughters- Lindsey (Dacota) Jernigan and Alexis Bonds. There are 7 Grandchildren- Ethan, Isaiah, Abigail, Odette (Elliott), Riley, Kayden, and Alana (Bennett), 2 sisters- Debby (John) Connors, Diane (Dave) Brooks, and brother- Dirk ( Shirley) Elliott.

Darrell will be greatly missed by co-workers, former students, friends and most of all, family.
