Obituary of Leavie Joseph Owens

Mr. Leavie Joseph Owens, age 55 a resident of Sebring, Florida passed away Friday, April 15, 2022 due to an automobile accident. Mr. Owens was born February 18, 1967 in Wauchula, Florida to Juan Hernandez and Althea Lorine (Suggs) Griego. He was a lifetime Polk County, Florida resident and attended Hardee County Schools. Leavie was a United States Army National Guard Reserve Veteran. He was a Carpenter in the Construction Industry. Leavie enjoyed fishing, tinkering, being a mechanic on his cars and loved to spend time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother – Mary Elizabeth Griego. Leavie is survived by his loving family, wife of 23 years – Jaime Owens of Sebring, Florida; 2 sons – Leavie Joseph (Janelle) Owens, II of Polk City, Florida and Randie (Starlet) Steckley of Panama City, Florida; 3 daughters – Tealishia (Jose) Torres of Wauchula, Florida, Vanessa Albritton of Bowling Green, Florida and Cheyenne (Antonio) Martinez of Selmer, Tennessee; mother & father – Lori & James Owens of Polk City, Florida; 2 brothers – Christopher Owens of Polk City, Florida and Randall (Adria) Owens of La Mesa, California; 5 sisters – Lorinda VanDuyn of Polk City, Florida, Michelle (Theodore) Pacific of Allegan, Michigan, Kathy Ann (Richard) Mendez of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Melissa Wiley of Waylon, Michigan and Elizabeth Griego of Bangor, Michigan; 15 grandchildren – Leavie,III, Carson, Weston, Ryleigh Lucas, Aaniyah, Aaliyah, Jaylin, Phoenix, Malik, Aliyah, Stori, Jayden, Reagan & Makylah. Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon Friday, April 22nd at Kersey Funeral Home with gathering beginning at 11am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Green Pond Cemetery in Polk City.
