Obituary of Harlan Edward Moore

Mr. Harlan Edward Moore, 83 a resident of Winter Haven passed away Friday, March 13, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. Mr. Moore was born August 7, 1936 in Sandy Hook, Kentucky to Steve and Virgie (Stephens) Moore. He was a Winter Haven resident since 1985 coming from Springfield, Ohio. He was a retired Plant Manager for Dewine Seed & Grain Company in Yellow Springs, Ohio and an Honorary Kentucky Colonel. Harlan was a member of the Church of God Anderson, Indiana, participated in countless church mission trips to Central & South America and was instrumental in helping to develop and build the H.E.A.R.T. mission’s program of Warner Southern University in Lake Wales. He also volunteered every year at Sun-n-Fun Fly-In, The Florida Citrus Festival, drove for many years for the Girls Inc. in Winter Haven, was a longtime board member/patron for the Auburndale High School Band and was an avid UCF Knights football fan. Harlan enjoyed spending time with his family and friends,  was an ardent  traveler, he truly enjoyed meeting new people around the world,  and he loved taking his grandkids for ice cream (even close to Grandma's dinner time). He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter – Leslie Lynn Moore and 14 brothers & sisters. Harlan is survived by his loving and devoted family, wife of 52 years – Linda Moore of Winter Haven; 2 daughters– Frances Craven of Tampa and Mickey (Art) Kemp of Winter Haven; 2 sons – Jeffery (Sue) Moore of Louisville, Kentucky and Scott Moore of Winter Haven;  4 grandchildren – Jonathan, Tiffany,  Kathryn, and Julieanne; 5 great grandchildren – Titan, Eli, Addison, Madelyn and Logan. He also has many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family request’s donations in Mr. Moore’s name to; Good Shepherd Hospice, 1239 East Main Street, Suite 3, Bartow, FL 33830. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, March 18th at Kersey Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens.
